  1. how to use a usb c cable as only a usb hub and not display

I am on windows 11, I use a Lenovo laptop and a Dell monitor, my monitor has a USB hub on it, so I have a type c cable running from my monitor to my laptop, but the problem is my laptop has a dedicated GPU that is only accessible through the HDMI port and type c only uses the intel built-in graphics, and when I plug in the HDMI port in as well, my laptop thinks the HDMI and type c are 2 different monitors so I can not use it if there is any way to not have the type c as a display port.

    :)

USB Type-C Hub does not work with extension cable

"USB 3.1" can mean USB 3.1 Gen. 1 (5 Gbit/s), or USB 3.1 Gen. 2 (10 Gbit/s). The cable you posted about in #3 is described as 10 Gbit/s compatible and its length es 1 m, which is consistent with a Gen. 2 cable. (In the current terminology, it seems that "3.1" is not used anymore, now is 3.2 Gen. 1/2).

What I suggested was to try a "Gen.1" cable, since the hub is Gen.1. Among others, I found this in Amazon, which is 2.0 m long, therefore Gen. 1:

USB C Extension Cable,Stouchi USB Type C Male to Female Fast Charging & Audio Data Transfer Cable Compatible for Nintendo Switch, Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro, Google Pixel 2 2 XL 3(6 FT)

The Satechi hub is also listed in Amazon, you could post a question about extension cables.

    USB HUB

    Hi,

Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
    • Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
    • Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
    • Select Disable.

Keep us in the loop with the result.
