Windows 10: How to use Labels function on gmail

About two years ago, my Outlook stopped connecting to gmail. I asked for assistance here, but nothing suggested worked. So I decided to just throw in the towel and use gmail directly. I thought I'd figured out how to sort incoming mail so I wouldn't miss anything important using the "Labels" function. For some things, it works just fine. For other labels, all sorts of extra stuff is winding up sorted into the label. For example, I have a sublabel for Commercial emails/Bills/Xfinity Mobile Phone which right now contains 111 pieces of email, only a few of which actually belong there. Many of the

Stop Gmail from labeling incoming mail

I am using Windows 10 & check my email through the Vivaldi browser.
When I get emails, they always have some sort of Label: Social, Updates, Forums or Promotions.
I'd like to stop having my emails labeled.

I've gone through these steps:

• Logged into my Gmail account through my browser
• Clicked the gear icon in the upper right & chose "See All Settings"
• Clicked on the 'Inbox' tab
• In the 'Importance Markers' section,
  I selected 'No markers' & 'Use my past actions to predict which messages are important to me'
• In the 'Filtered Mail' section,
  I selected 'Don't override filters'
• I then clicked 'Save Changes'

But emails still arrive w/a label attached to them. Am I missing/doing something wrong?

 

"Unwanted" Label in Gmail

Hi Windy,

I've attached a couple of spots it lives, and just in case you haven't removed "unwanted" from both, give it a shot.

On the left where your folder/labels are, click on the 3 dots next to it, and click remove (I assume you got rid of it this way, and it still comes back)

Before the next step, can you make sure no emails are under that label.

Click on the gear box in the top right, then settings, then labels. Scroll down, and delete it from the list.

See if it will not stay deleted.

Emailing to gmail groups (labels)

This isn't specific to outlook.com, but is related to sending email using the mail app on Windows 10. I'm new to Windows and have synced my gmail to all of the apps, which are all working fine, with the exception of lacking one important functionality for
me. I have a lot of groups (or labels) stored in my gmail contacts for communicating with specific groups of people. In gmail I can just start typing the name of the group/label into my "to" bar in a new message and that group will pop up and I can then
send to everyone in that group with one click.

Am I able to do that, using my pre-made groups on gmail, using the windows mail app? Or do I need to remake all of my groups/labels in the people app?
