my pc is telling me out of disk space for the down load! I want it to use my ext drive now HOW to get it to go on to it?

Step 1: free up space

You should know one thing about the Windows 10 update. You will always need minimal free space on the primary storage. The external drive is to make sure that the space used to download the update is moved. This tip helps you when you need space to download
the updates and have minimal space in your C drive for the update.

You will see a wizard pop-up window when the storage space is really low.

So, first let's clear up some space.

Click free space now.

It will scan your drives and offer you a list of files that take up space.

If you delete enough files, the mark will turn green. Then you will be ready to update without using an external drive. But if you can't, it's time to connect an external drive with plenty of free space.

Step 2: connect the external drive

Connect your external storage device. Wait a bit and you will do it in the drop-down list in Step 2 of the image.

If the external storage device has enough free space, a green check mark will appear next to the storage unit icon.

Select Continue to finish installing the update.
