Windows 10: How to use phone to verify account if not logged in to authenticator app

My laptop is currently showing the BitLocker recovery screen requesting an encryption key. In trying to access the encryption key on my phone I was prompted to verify my identity by sending an email to my alternate email address. This email address is no longer current so I requested to update it. Previously I have been able to verify my account using my mobile phone number which was not presented as an option. This is why my alternate email address had never been updated Now that I have requested a change to my security info, understandably, I am unable to access anything relating to my accou
