How To Use Target/Remote Host Audio Input and Output During RDP Session?

Hello everyone! Is there anyway to use the target remote hosts USB audio input and output during an RDP session on Windows 10? I have a long range wireless USB headset and wish to use that instead of "Remote Audio". Unfortunately "Remote Audio is the only option even with the wireless headset's USB dongle plugged in to the target remote host.

    :)

No audio input picked up in RDP session (win10)

    Hi
    amazin_marvin
    ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that it could be frustrating that the PC’s audio input is not being picked up by the remote machine. You could check with the steps below and see if it works for you.

    1. Press the ‘Windows’ key and ‘R’ key, this will open the run dialogue box.
    2. Type in ‘RDP’ and press enter, this will open a window for the ‘Remote Desktop Connection’.
    3. Click on ‘More options’.
    4. Click on ‘Local Resources’ tab, under 'Remote audio', click on ‘Settings’.
    5. This will open a small window, under ‘Remote audio playback’, select the ‘Play on remote computer’ and click on ‘Ok’.

As the issue is related to the ‘Remote Desktop’, if the issue persists, it would require more troubleshooting and it is more appropriate to be posted in IT Pro ‘TechNet
forums, where we have support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on issues with RDP.

    Hope it helps.

  3. Hyper-V Remote Audio Input - Loud Static Input After a While. Have to Restart Remote Session

This didn't use to be an issue but, recently in Windows 10, I think after one of the Cumulative updates, I started getting static in my Remote Audio Input via Hyper-V after a while. I know this is isolated to the VM because the audio input in the host machine is low or nothing. I can also unplug the Input device and it will still show up as static on the Guest machine.

The only way to fix this is to unplug my Input device. Close the remote session (I don't have to stop the guest machine.) Start the remote session. Close it again. Plug back the input device and start the remote session again. This makes me think its not an issue with Hyper-V itself or the Guest Machine but, the Remote Session Client. (I am using Enhanced Session. I don't think you can have remote audio without enhanced and definitely not dual monitors which I require.)

This wasn't an issue until a certain Windows 10 Update I forgot. I upgraded to Windows 11 just to see if it will fix the issue but, I am also having the issue in Win11.

How To Use Target/Remote Host Audio Input and Output During RDP Session?

Is that possible to use host keyboard for input on a remote desktop session on android?

    hi everyone!

I have a computer running Windows 10 Professional with a USB keyboard, and I'm using an Android tablet with Microsoft Remote Desktop app to remote it.

What I want to achive is using the host keyboard for input in the remote session, cause the table is too old to support USB Keyboard or Bluetooth Keyboard.

Besides the USB keyboard, I have a bluetooth keyboard conneted to the host computer, but both keyboards can't used for input on remote session. Is there anyway to achive That?

    Thank you all.
