How to use windows file history to copy files to a new computer?

I am trying to copy files to a new computer using windows file history stored in a backup drive. However when I go to restore personal files, I can only access the original backup from when I started using file history ca. 2020. I get a message saying the seleted location does not have the most recent files. I used file history very recently 2024 to back up the files. Why can't I access them? They have to be somewhere since when I browse through the file history folder also automatically saved in my backup drive by windows file history, I can find files as recent as the date of my last bac

    Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one

How to use windows file history to copy files to a new computer?

File History Making Multiple Copies of Files

I am unable to find a question addressing my issue. Upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro last summer. Finally got around to setting up File History. When I checked my 1 TB external drive, I found File History was making copies of my documents,
pictures etc. every hour as I left it set to default. Unfortunately, it makes a new copy of EVERYTHING every hour... at the end of the day, my drive was consumed with over 600 GB of File History data.

I have deleted the file several times and turned File History on and off and changed the interval. Whatever interval it is, File History just make another new copy of everything.

This is the only computer in the house and it is not connected to a Homegroup. Any suggestions?
