Windows 10: How to view files on an external drive which are hidden after update

The files on my external USB drive can't be seen on the drive after I updated my windows 10 drivers, how can I see the files

External hard drive in Windows 10

There is no "Select all" in the "View" ribbon. I could not select all files but I did progress to "Properties" and changed the suggested attributes. This fix did not solve either of my two problems.
