Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done How to view my Profile Photo at the top of Windows Settings. :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

    Hi,

We apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter by following the steps provided below:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
    • Click on View all on top left pane.
    • Select “Windows Store Apps” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

Also, suggest you to check if there are any updates available for the Photos App and install the same and check for status.

Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

Restore Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10

Do it the old fashioned way...............
Right click at Start > select Control Panel > top right at View by, click the pointer and select small icons > select Default Programs > select Associate a file type....... > left side, scroll down to .jpg > click it > under Current Default, does it say Windows Photo Viewer ?
    If yes, your are set.
If no, top right, click Change Program > does the popup box show Windows Photo Viewer on the list ?
If yes, click it and click OK.
If no, at the bottom, click More apps > use the scrollbar to find Windows Photo Viewer and select it > click OK when done.

Repeat the steps above with .png files.
