Windows 10: How to wipe / fresh USB serial numbers for devices

Hi guys,

I have two the same USB devices so when i connect them it says (2 - flight sound X) and (4 - flight sound X)

These are sounds Adapters for headsets and only require USB plug.

My problem and question is. How do i reset the numbers 2 and 4 above? Because I’ve un-plugged them a few times and windows 10 each time sets a new Serial number. The numbers however are stuck or assigned to the same USB port on my USB hub. So for example if i unplug (2 - flight sound X) and re-plug this same device back into the same port it will still show (2 - flight sound X)

So how can i wipe the serial codes and start fresh with plugging each one in?

Reason i want to do this is because something isn’t working and i like to start fresh.

Windows 7 define wrong serial number for USB device

I've plugged in the USB device (usb-ethernet adaptor TP Link UE300) and try to find out its serial number in device manager.

In device manager I've found according device, opened its properties, tab 'Details', there I found the 'Device Instance Path' property (as I know it keeps serial number). The value for the serial number is '000001000000' - it has nothing common with real
device serial number which is written on its body.

Could you, please, give me a hint, why the serial number detects incorrectly?

 

USB composite device "driver error"

Can you send us a screenshot of the error message? We suggest uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers and check if the issue persists. To do that, please follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  
• Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Right-click on the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
  Uninstall to remove it.
• Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Restart the computer. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

Windows 10 serial on OEM


So I'll summarize steps made...

1. Saved serial number (taken with Belarc Advisory) from preinstalled (half chinese language) Windows 8.1 (don't know exactly the version, suspect Windows 8.1 with bing) on tablet
2. Formatted tablet
3. Tried to make a clean Windows 10 (HOME, HOME N and also PRO, everytime with the same result) install with ISO taken with MediaCreationTool, during install (and also after completing installation) it says that the saved serial is not valid
4. Tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 (ISO taken with MediaCreationTool again) HOME, it says that the serial is not valid

So i suspect that the saved serial, is from a WINDOWS 8.1 WITH BING OEM version and this kind of ISO is not accessible/downloadable anywhere (at least I can't find it, any suggestion?)

Still not tried SHOWKEY with that serial, I am in office now, and the serial is saved on a usb pen at home, will try this evening.

So I'm stucked but if everything is like I suspect, it's incredible. If I have a tablet/notebook/netbook with Windows 8 preinstalled, it seems that I can update to Windows 10 without problems, but if I want to make a clean Windows 10 install that serial is not valid...
