Windows 10: hp 8600 scanner

I want to scan documents to a PDF file. scanner works with Microsoft scanner ap but pdf file is not an option.

FWIW, I've never seen the "scanner" listed as a separate device for the 8600 Premium on any of my 3 Windows 7 boxes and I don't see it listed under the Windows 10 devices, either (just the 8600 Printer and the 8600 Fax).

But the scanner worked and works just fine on all of them.
So I don't think it's Win10 quirk or bug.... At least it doesn't seem to be?

{Each computer is unique. And I don't wish to drag you down a rabbit hole. It just seems odd....}

If the scanner was turned on and no scanner driver shows up in Device Manager then you need to reinstall the drivers. There is the option of doing this for just the basic drivers or the full set of software to run your all-in-one device.

I think you have a different model?

I have the exact same model as the OP (8600 AIO Premium), have had it installed on 3 different systems now (both Win7 and Win10) and NEVER saw the "scanner" listed separately in the Windows Control Panel. But it has always worked just fine, including the scanner.
Having said that, I am on a Dell PC.
