Windows 10: HP desktop new security update will not install. Install error 0x800f0988 keeps popping up?...

Need help installing new update.

Okay. I read the steps here and did methods 1 and 2 which didn't solve the issue. Page not found • Windows Report - Error-free Tech Life I did method 3 and same result. Sharing the screenshot of log of cmd prompt.





Then I did an in-place upgrade and after the reboot, I got this.




I'm still not able to install the update. I also went to deskmodder.de but couldn't find the script for the specific update that I'm facing issues with.

Hi, as with many other such threads, the realistic approach is to perform an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data.

Check you have at least 30Gb free on C:
Download iso file (MS media creation tool)
rt click it
click Mount (available by default)
open new drive letter created
double click setup.exe
