Windows 10: HP Elitepad's productivity jacket's SD card slot/port does not work after windows 10 updates

Have a HP Elitepad 1000 G2 tablet, the tablet's productivity jacket's SD card slot/port/reader thing does not want to work, tried different memory card holders with the same SD card but does not pick up on windows the same memory card holders works on both the other laptops perfectly fine with the SD card but not on the productivity jacket it used to work before but after doing updates a while back the port stopped working too many updates has been done cant remember what update was it that caused the problem. I have uninstalled the the SD drivers from device manager and restarted the tablet, i have tried updating the drivers, i have recently did all the latest updates on windows, i even went to the HP website where i got the touchscreen and audio drivers for the tablet that worked fixing the touch and audio but the sd drivers from hp does not work after i installed it, it still gives the same problem, i even did troubleshooting and that doesnt even work, please help to let me know what to do next.

HP today announced two additions to its leading business tablet lineup, both of which are available with a broad set of accessories to help transform tablets into total business solutions that increase mobility and security.

• The HP ElitePad 1000 has been upgraded with a brighter and more durable touch screen with a 16:10 screen-aspect ratio, 4G connectivity and 64-bit capabilities to go along with its world-class design and HP Smart Jacket accessory ecosystem.
• The new HP ProPad 600 offers essential productivity with on-the-go, long battery life, and versatile Windows 8.1 and x86 compatibility for legacy applications.

HP also launched the HP TX1 POS Solution, a sleek yet durable HP ProPad based point-of-sale (POS) solution that bolsters HP's world-class portfolio of retail solutions for tablets that help businesses deliver a secure and simple retail experience to their customers.

Tablets have taken a central role in business with 21 percent of employees requesting a tablet from their IT managers. The changing nature of work -- including an increasingly diverse, tech-savvy workforce and the evolution of the traditional workplace -- has led to growing demand for light, flexible, powerful mobile devices such as HP tablets that both support a work/life blend and lock in to an organization's IT infrastructure for manageability and increased security.

HP today introduced the HP ElitePad 900, a tablet that balances a beautiful design with enterprise-grade features, functionality and support.

The HP ElitePad is an ultrathin, lightweight tablet designed for Windows 8 that delivers features to keep IT managers happy and touts a design that employees will crave. The HP ElitePad also helps small workgroups connect with HP Wireless Hotspot, a desktop application that allows users to share a wireless internet connection and network bandwidth.

SD card slot not working?

I have a Dell e5430 laptop (refurbished) that is in very good condition with a 250 gig SSd, 8 gig of ram running Windows 10 pro. Everything from start up onward is lightening fast, the USB ports all work as does the DVD re-writer.
But even though I am almost certain that the SD card slot has never been used as it still has the factory Dell blank inserted, I cannot get the laptop to recognise an SD card, and I have tried several that I know are working because they come from my other two laptops.
I was wondering if there was something in the BIOS that I needed to activate to get the laptop to see the SD card? Or is there something else I have missed?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
