Windows 10: HP Envy 15 2020 restarts when put to sleep or hibernate after around 30 seconds of...

I have an HP Envy 15 2020 15-ep0035cl . It seems to have a 75% chance of restarting when either put to sleep or restarted. I'm not sure when it started, but the machine does not exhibit any other issues otherwise which makes me doubt a hardware issue. There's absolutely nothing in event viewer before the restarts either. These remind me of issues I had with my old machine that eventually managed to kill it's drive, so I'd really rather not have that happen again nothing was transferred between these machines at all. No viruses or anything either.

Laptop restarts when I put it to 'sleep' mode

Hi All!

Just bought a brand new HP envy 15 (2020 edition). On the 2nd day it was updating windows and bios and then i noticed that my laptop restarts whenever i put it to sleep.

To be precise, this is what happens step by step:

1. I put the laptop to sleep

2. It goes to 'sleep'

3. 20 seconds in and it restarts or start from new.. all the apps that i left on when puting laptop to sleep are now gone..

Can anyone help?

Battery Problem { hp envy 15}

I am sorry to know that you have been facing battery issue for 2 months.

Restart the computer a few times and check for Windows Updates.

In the Search box on the taskbar, enter Windows Update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates.

Try to run the Power Troubleshooter.

Power troubleshooter will automatically fix some common issues with Power Plans. Run the Power troubleshooter to adjust your computer's power settings. The Power troubleshooter checks things like your computer's timeout settings,
which determine how long the computer waits before turning off the monitor display or entering sleep mode. Adjusting these settings can help you conserve power and extend your computer's battery life.

• Press Windows Logo Key+X then click on Search option.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and click on
  System and Security.
• Click on Power and follow the onscreen steps.

If the issue persist, then I suggest you to try the steps provided in the link below ad check. If you cant perform few steps on your own please check with HP.

HP ENVY 17-k000 sleep issues

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

If the computer does not wake from sleep or hibernate mode, restarting the computer, changing settings, or updating the software and drivers will resolve the issue.

Method 1: Hybrid sleep.

If your system has a lag or delay before sleeping try to
disable Hybrid Sleep to see the sleep performance is improved.

• Go to Search window and type
  Control Panel > select System and Maintenance option > click on
  Power options to run the applet.
  
• Click on Change plan settings under the active selected power plan.
  
• On the Change settings for the plan option, click on
  Change advanced power settings. On the Advanced settings tab of Power Options, expand
  Sleep and then expand Allow hybrid sleep option. Select
  Off from the drop down list as the value for the options available.
  
• Click on OK option and click on
  Save changes option.
