Windows 10: HP envy hdmi output not working

The hdmi output for my hp all in one envy is not working and i already went through all the troubleshooting options and even used different hdmi cables but nothing seems to work

HDMI input no longer works HP Envy AIO Desktop

The computer is HP Envy 23K-011. There is a button at bottom of the computer that switches the display from computer to HDMI . Now this button does not work , the display remains showing computer as source. I last used it 2 years ago. Since then I have updated the OS to to Windows 10 home ver 1809 . But I never checked the HDMI display input after each update. I have updated all the display drivers to no effect.


I have tried the following : Power cycled the computer , reinstalled HP my display ( hdmi input does not work with or without HP my display)

Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? Tks

Thanks very much.

The security system works fine when I HDMI it into a TV. So it's working fine.

I have tried to get other, known working. HDMI inputs (Xbox and WiiU) to connect to my HP ENVY 23, and they don't connect either.

The problem therefore, is with getting the ENVY 23 to display the input connected to its HDMI port.

Some HP ENVY products have a display toggle switch on the underside of the all in one screen, but mine does not.

I have 4 switches menu, exit, vol up, vol down associated with the HDMI input, that all do nothing apparent.

I was hoping there was something in Windows I was somehow missing...

I've bought HP envy 17 3090NR 3D (High def) recently..

It has no VGA port.

so i want cable to connect my laptop to my LCD tv.

suggest me which cable i shd buy?

HDMI/any other cable will support audo also or only video is supported by these cables and for audio i need to atach separate speakers or laptop inbuilt audio itself?

any HDMI cable will support hd output or only specific HD HDMI laptop will support it?
