Windows 10: HP Envy Laptop Fingerprint Reader Not Working After Windows 10 Reinstall That Has Windows Hello

After a Windows user file corruption that occurred following a Windows 10 update in October, I did a reset and then update to Windows 10. This model was originally Windows 8.


Since then, my HP Envy fingerprint reader stopped working despite many attempts via Windows Hello options to try and set it up I don't recall ever seeing "Hello" on here previously. So I uninstalled the bio reader and reinstalled new driver and software from the HP website. Well, Windows Hello apparently doesn't recognize it. The setup window says "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint." What the heck do I do now? I just want to be able to sign it with my fingerprint again!

P.S. My fingerprint scanner does flash and "read" my finger at start up, but Hello doesn't connect to it and I can't find a way to make it do so OR a replacement for Hello.

Hp Envy fingerprint reader stopped working after Win 10 Update

After the last Win 10 Pro update my HP Envy laptop fingerprint reader stopped working.

 

Will Windows Hello provide support for HP EliteBook 2760p fingerprint reader?

Did you try your fingerprint reader with Windows 10?

I have a 3 1/2 year old HP Envy 17t with a fingerprint reader and it works just fine with the Windows 10 supplied drivers.

 

Fingerprint reader/scanner not working with recent update to windows hello on HP ENVY 360 laptop

The fingerprint scanner on my HP ENVY 360 laptop was working perfectly until recently when the windows hello was updated. Now it says "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" under
the device manager section and "We couldn't find fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint" under the sign-in options for Windows Hello. The fingerprint scanner on my laptop is located just below the numerical side keyboard. How can I fix
this compatibility issue with Windows Hello on my laptop? Thank you.
