Windows 10: HP Envy x365 Blue Screen Error

I have a computer that seems to blue screen every time it boots. The stop code is WDF_VIOLATION with the what failed of: amdsfhkmdf.sys. I think this is because the AMD driver is not running properly. What have I tried?: 1 I have tried to enter safe mode to try and roll back the install.2 I have used the repair settings to keep files and reset the device.3 I have tried to repair the startup.4 I have tried to use the HP help page to try and initiate safe mode via BIOS F8 Key None of these have worked at all at this point in time. I would take the laptop back asap and insist that there is something wrong. The WinDBG result is simply telling you that there is a hardware error, this is a 0x124 stop code and the CPU which reports the error is an AMD device.

It is often quite difficult to pinpoint the component which is giving rise to the problem. It could be motherboard or CPU or memory so you just have to work your way through the tests until you find something. A good confirmation that it is hardware is if the system crashes in safe mode. Safe mode does not start the non-Microsoft drivers so it helps to rule out a driver related BSOD.

In the event log you have a number of hardware related errors like this:

• run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

• the health,
• the error scan,
• the benchmark incl. following
  • transfer rate,
  • access time,
  • burst rate,
  • cpu usage.

I called into the retailer yesterday and although the laptop isn't even two months old, i have to send it back to the central repair centre. It's not ideal as i use it for my business. Before i do send it back i just want to make sure i have checked everything else.

HP Envy x360 with 1440p screen?

So I bought a refurb HP Envy x360 with the AMD FX 9800P and recently discovered I could set the screen resolution to 2560x1440 despite HP advertising this machine as only being capable of 1920x1080. Has anyone else bought one of these and found they could change the resolution to 1440P? I was thinking maybe since mine is a refurb that it was originally returned for some kind of screen issue and they replaced the screen with whatever they had lying around that day, which could well have been a screen meant for a Spectre, and not an Envy, since the Spectre does come with a 1440p screen. Would a mistake like this even be possible? It came in an Envy box and it says Envy everywhere on the laptop where it should say it. There is no external evidence that this might actually be a Spectre and not an Envy. So is this a fluke or all of these capable of displaying 1440p instead of being limited to 1080p as advertised?
