Windows 10: HP F4400 printer "Error" Message

I spent many hours for 3 days trying to get my HP F4400 printer to print. I tried every site on line that gave good directions on how to solve this problem but to no avail. Then, I saw a one line sentence from a person that had similar problems that I was having. She removed the color ink cartridge, which had been empty for years, and her printer started printing. My flashing light is still on but the "E" message disappeared immediately when I removed the color ink cartridge and I have been able to print every since. I don't know why this worked. Does anyone have an answer?

Can't share printer—getting error message

Step 1: Go to store.
Step 2: Buy a less shitty printer.
Step 3: Pick up some beer while you are there.
Step 4: Enjoy both your new printer and your beer.

In all seriousness, I have had more issues with Lexmark printers and their shitty drivers then any other manufacturer, HP is a close second though.

However, if you don't want to get a new printer*Laugh :laugh:, and I can understand that, when my Lexmark was giving me the same troubles in Win7(and Vista) I had to make sure the Windows firewall was ON and the firewall service was enabled and running. After I shared it I could re-disable the firewall and firewall services.

 

Can't share printer—getting error message

Not working... I see the printer, but when I go to add it, I get this messge: "Windows could not connect to the printer (error 0x0000000d)."

I installed the 32-bit drivers for it and printed something out from the pc the printer is connected to, and I went to the additional drivers page and added drivers for 64-bit, and when I went to add the printer on the other machine, it copied drivers over, but after that I got the error message listed above...

 

Is there an upgrade for my HP Deskject F4400 Series printer now that I have updated to Windows 10?

I understand that HP Deskjet F4400 series printer won't work on Windows 10.

I suggest you to plugin to the USB port 2.0 as it may be not compatible with USB 3.0 port

Kindly follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Make sure the system is up to date. Follow the below steps.

• Open Start menu and type Windows update.
• Click on Windows update and check whether there are any updates.
• Install if there are any updates in Windows updates.

If the issue still persist, follow the below method.



Method 2:

I suggest you to perform the Printer troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

Follow the steps given below:

• Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Control Panel
• Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the
  Control Panel.
• Click on View all on the left navigation pane.
• Click on Printer.
• Click on Advanced on the
  Printer dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).
• Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the
  Printer troubleshooter.

If the issue still persists, download the latest printer drivers from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.
