HP Image recovery windows 10 1607 Build

Hi , I have updated my Windows 10 build from 1607 to 1703 ( creator update ) , before doing this I have made USB drive having HP Image recovery to make fresh installation incase any error comes up in the future , but now I find that HP recovery image program writes : Image recovery function is Disabled due to updating windows version !

So what should I do to be enable this function in the future incase I need to make fresh Image installation ?!!

and Can I extend period that I can make roll back to my previous 1607 build I know it's allowed withing 10 days from the update ( I mean can't I make it forever ? ) Thank you !

    :)

  2. Windows 10 new creators system image backup

    Up date

Thanks for the response. None seems to answer the problem.

I have since restored the LapTop to an earlier version of Windows 10 - using the recovery cd and an older image file. I then updated this to 1607-14393.11, ran a new image file to external hd without problem. Then ran the updater for Windows 10 1703.15063.296
without event Then I ran the windows create image file with the same results as before.

This proves that the create image file program works with windows 1607, but does not work with windows 1703.

As the laptop is not my primary Windows machine, I will just drop the problem for now, as the windows create image file works just fine on my HP Desktop, using Windows 10 version 1703 Build 15063.296.

    Again, thanks for the response.

Windows 10 re-image has corrupted BIOS

    Hi,

I've just been given three new HP Laptops with Windows 10 Home - Build 1703 on them. I tried to re-image them with the clients Windows 10 Enterprise - Build 1607 & it's corrupted the BIOS & "bricked" two of them. HP have agreed to replace them under warranty
but have said they're advising all users to stay on 1607 until further notice (Not helpful when they're shipping with later versions on them!!!).

I've re-imaged hundreds of laptops from Home to Enterprise & NEVER had any issues, so this is a nightmare!

So my question is... How do I get the clients Enterprise image onto a new Build 1703??? Will it work if I upgrade the image on another PC to 1703/1709 or how about installing a fresh Windows 10 Enterprise - Build 1607 & then re-image them? I need some help
with this as I don't want to destroy any more laptops!!! HP certainly don't have any answers for me sadly.

NOTE: I've tried to reinstall the BIOS using HP's tools & instructions but that's failed too, the laptops are 100% DEAD thanks to Microsoft.

I haven't found that the 10 day period can be changed. Also involved is the Version and Build of the original install of Win10, some file changes/updates may mess up the factory restore.

You need a new recovery manager after the Creators Update.

I downloaded this update but nothing changed ! , really don't know what to make either to let the new build on my laptop or to restore the old build before the 10 days go off and loose my image !

Apparently the How-To Geek found a way to do it (at least, it worked in 1511). basically you take a copy of the files needed and store them to put back later. You have to be quick though, you need to copy them before Windows automatically deletes them.

Sorry, I don't have an HP I can test it on. It may need a restart to take effect. Use 'Restart' from the start menu's power button and see if that works (don't use 'Shut down', that will not do a full start up from cold if fast startup is enabled).

I have made copy of these files to another partition on my laptop , but question here after 10 days go , the option of roll back itself will be removed from recovery function , I mean even I keep copy of these files I won't be able to roll back !

The How-To Geek article did say "It’s not officially supported, and it’s possible this won’t work in future builds of Windows 10". I'm afraid I cannot say if it will work or not. What I can say is that if the option to roll back is removed from the Settings app after ten days, there's another place you can find it that doesn't get removed.

Go to Settings > Update & security > Recovery and use the Advanced Start-up. Then, when it has rebooted to the Advanced Start-up choose Troubleshoot, then Advanced options, here you will find a 'Go back to previous build'. My system still shows that option four months after the upgrade to Creators Update (not having kept the files, I cannot test it though).
