  2. Problem with activation of TPM on my laptop (HP PAVILLON GAMING)

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

To resolve the issue with TPM not being recognized by your system despite being activated in the BIOS, you can follow these steps:

    1. Verify TPM Status in BIOS:

Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup. The key to access BIOS setup varies by manufacturer, but for HP, it is commonly F10, Esc, or Delete.

Once in the BIOS, navigate to the Security tab.

Ensure that TPM Device is set to Enabled.

Also, ensure that TPM State is set to Enabled.

Save changes and exit the BIOS.

    2. Check TPM Status in Windows:

Press Win + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter.

This should open the TPM Management console. Check if the TPM is recognized and its status.

If TPM is not recognized, it might indicate a deeper issue with the hardware or BIOS settings.

    3. Check Device Manager:

Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).

Look for Security devices. Expand it and check if Trusted Platform Module 1.2/2.0 is listed.

If it’s not listed, try scanning for hardware changes by right-clicking on any item and selecting Scan for hardware changes.

    4. Update BIOS:

Ensure your BIOS is up to date. Visit the HP Support website and check for the latest BIOS update for your HP Pavilion Gaming laptop model.

Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the BIOS.

Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

    5. Enable Secure Boot:

Sometimes TPM functionality is tied to Secure Boot.

Go back into the BIOS setup.

    Navigate to the Boot tab.

    Ensure Secure Boot is enabled.

Save changes and exit the BIOS.

    6. Clear TPM:

Clearing the TPM can sometimes resolve issues where it’s not being recognized correctly.

Go back into the BIOS setup.

Navigate to the Security tab and find options related to TPM.

There should be an option to clear or reset TPM. Select it and confirm.

Save changes and exit the BIOS.

    7. Reinstall Windows Security Features:

Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security.

Go to Device security and check the status of Security processor (TPM).

If it’s not available, you may need to reinstall or reset related security features.

    8. Check HP Support:

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consult HP’s support documentation or contact HP support for further assistance.

    Summary of Steps:

Verify TPM is enabled in BIOS.

Check TPM status in Windows via tpm.msc.

Confirm TPM presence in Device Manager.

Update BIOS to the latest version.

Ensure Secure Boot is enabled in BIOS.

Clear TPM in BIOS if necessary.

Reinstall or reset Windows security features.

Consult HP support if the issue persists.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

  3. Secure boot isn't turning on in HP laptop (windows 11)

    Hello Mohd_357,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand the frustration you’re facing with Secure Boot on your HP laptop. Let’s troubleshoot this issue step by step:

    1. Load HP Factory Default Keys:
      • Go into the BIOS settings.
      • Navigate to System Configuration > Boot Options.
      • Look for an option to Load HP Factory Default Keys. If available, select it.
      • Check if Secure Boot becomes available after doing this.
    2. Disable Fast Startup:
      • Boot into your operating system (Windows 11).
      • Open Settings.
      • Go to Updates & Security > Recovery.
      • Click Restart Now under “Advanced startup.”
      • Wait for your PC to boot into the system recovery menu.
      • Select Troubleshoot and then choose Advanced options.
      • Finally, select UEFI Firmware Settings.
    3. Check BIOS Mode:
      • Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is in UEFI mode, not legacy mode.
      • If your notebook’s BIOS mode is set to legacy, you won’t be able to enable Secure Boot. You may need to reinstall Windows 11 from an EFI boot source.
    4. Reset BIOS settings to Default:
      • Reset BIOS settings may restore secure boot settings to normal factory state.

    Regarding TPM 2.0:

    • Your PC may not have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) support, which is required for Windows 11.
    • Additionally, Windows 11 requires an Intel 8th gen core processor or newer.

I hope it can solve your problem.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best Regards,
