HP Laptop Win 10 - Confirm if RAM Upgrade Product from Amazon is Compatible? I want to upgrade my RAM from 4 GB to 16 GB. after win 10 upgrade, hp mini 311 boots only with add -on RAM removed


Which version of Windows did the mini come with? Did the added RAM come from HP? Does the BIOS recognize the added RAM? Have you checked with HP to see if they have an updated BIOS for it?

That may be true but the RAM module still could be not exactly right for the mini. According to http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-mini-311-1002tu that model has only 1 RAM slot.

Looking more at things and knowing that there is no 3GB RAM module suggests that there is 1GB soldered onto the motherboard and a 1GB or 2GB module can be added.

 

Upgrade from 8.1 to Win 10

• Is this laptop compatible with Windows 10?
• Are there drivers for Windows 10 for this laptop on HP website?

I would suggest you to temporarily disable/un-install any HP's software if you have installed.

Also, I would suggest you to start the upgrade by un-installing the updated drivers and installing basic windows drivers.

Follow the steps mentioned below:

  Right on the start icon and click on device manager
  
• 
  Expand Network/Device adapters, Select the adapter, right click and click on un-install.
  
• 
  Restart the computer.
  
  Now start the upgrade from an ISO and see if that helps.

Where to find a Win 10 product key after upgrade?

I just upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and I was trying to find the product key for the new Win 10 OS.

I found product ID but I am not completely sure whether "product ID" and "product key" is the same thing. The link "change product key" suggests that it is but I would like to have it confirmed.





Can anyone please confirm or clarify?
