Windows 10: HP Laptop with windows vista

My wife passed a few years ago and I'm attempting to utilize a laptop she had. It has windows vista on it and For some reason I can't login to it don't know the PWD it found 106 upgrades and installed them. I can't get past the login screen it only has her nameKtisti and the password line. I've tried booting it into safe mode and it goes right back to the same screen. When you go into recovery mode it says the system is disabled. Any idea how to force it to a screen I can login to? I'm sctatching my head here and rolling in circles. Of course I don't have the system disk or if I do I don't

Laptop CPU upgrade

In support of simply replacing the Notebook/Laptop I checked HP's site and the only drivers listed were for Vista, certainly suggests it is an older device.

Vista Pre-SP1 vs. Vista SP1

I've been Windows Updating for two straight days and I finally saw SP1. If you want to troubleshoot it, follow these steps:

• Show hidden updates
• Manually install any failed updates (google the KB_____ and install from the windows site)
• Make sure everything in Device Manager is good to go

I had to do step two for like 4 or 5 updates to be able to see SP1.

Any other benchmarks you guys want to see? I might try PCMark05 (I think it works on Vista).

 

My hp laptop wont turn on

This is a frequent problem am sure as you have already seen from online searches.

Flea power is usually the culprit here, basically its residual power that remains on the computer even after thecomputer has been shutdown. You can drain the flea power with the steps the other answers have suggested.

• Disconnecting the battery and adapter
• Press the hardpress the power button for 30 seconds
• This should clear the flea power
