Windows 10: HP LJ-1020 won't install

Discus and support HP LJ-1020 won't install in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; When I connect my USB cord, the printer shows in the "Unspecified" devices, rather than the "Printers" I downloaded HP latest package from August...     HP LJ-1020 won't install


    When I connect my USB cord, the printer shows in the "Unspecified" devices, rather than the "Printers"

    I downloaded HP latest package from August 2015. I also tried my original CD. Both don't recognize my LJ-1020 as a printer and won't complete installation.

    I also tried another cable and USB port. No difference.

    From Device Manager, I found my LJ-1020 under the "Other Devices", I also tried "Update Driver", it eventually HP 2012.918.1.57980, but then fails "Windows encountered a problem..."

    Of course I did all of this using Windows 7 and Administrator compatibility mode .

    Am I out of luck with this printer?

    EDIT: I tried "Add a printer" and it eventually added my LJ-1020 in printers. But I am unable to print anything and when I turn on my printer, it also shows in the "Unspecified" devices.

    Windows 10- Windows Update constantly updating HP LaserJet 6L driver

    I have the same issue after the W-10 Pro update can no longer print on the HP LJ 6L both drivers are installed and neither one works

    How to install a HP LaserJet 1200 printer in Windows 10

    just had this issue. went and got the newest lj 1200 universal pl6 driver. removed the printer from device manager. installed hp driver with "usb mode". then reconnected the printer. works fine now. try that.

    HP LJ-1020 won't install

    Right-click on the printer at the unspecified devices and select Update driver. Then select the last option. Then again the last option until you see a Have disk button. Click that button and browse to the folder where you extracted the driver.

    Other method: Uninstall the printer software, disconnect your printer and remove it from Devices and Printers. Also delete any relevant entry in Device Manager (see also at print queue). Restart the computer and install the software again. Do not connect the printer until you see a message on screen to do so. The printer should be detected and installed without any issue.

    I had to dig a little more.

    After the removal of anything HP in Program & features, I edited the Registry and and removed anything Laserjet, LJ-1020. I ran CCleaner and after reboot, it finally went through the "Add a Printer" process, but it didn't install by itself.

    I had a similar issue the other day with my LJ1200. I had to download a .dot4 w8.1 driver from HP website and reinstall it.
