Windows 10: HP NC6400 Generic graphic drivers

Hello! I installed an SSD to this old laptop to be used for basic stuf, like Word and internet browsing.

It has an ATI X1300 graphic card, and as far as I understand this graphic card is not supported anymore in Win 10. So it uses a generic driver. I am fine with it, but what I dont understand why cant I set the proper resolution of my monitor 1280x800. Im stuck with 1024x768.. The problem is the display is 16:9 but the resolution 4:3...


How can I fix this problem?

I suggest you to download and install the graphic drivers on your computer form the manufacturer’s website and check if it helps.

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to install the graphic drivers in compatibility mode and check.

Method 1:

Follow the steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode.

• Download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right-click on the installer and click on "Properties".
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

I request you to try the following steps:

Uninstall and Reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall the Graphics Card
Drivers

  Right click on Start menu.
  
• 
  Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
  
• 
  Search for the Graphics Card
  from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers

  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.
  

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Graphics Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.
