Windows 10: HP OfficeJetPro 6978 configuration error 0x8007007e

I received the above notice on my above named printer and now cannot print anything. I noticed a post saying that this may be caused by the latest Windows update? I use MS Edge. Is that the case? Has a patch come through yet? (Apparently not, because I'm still getting the error message.) What can I do to correct this?

I have worked with cannon [printer supplier] and their unit is fine. What is causing this 0x8007007e configuration error message all of a sudden?
