  1. HP Reverb G2's Cameras Seem to Be Misoriented?

My HP Reverb is consistently having problems tracking both my boundaries and controllers, so I tried to check the flashlight function to see if I could tell if a camera could have been damaged. When I used it, it appeared as if the passthrough was moved to the bottom left of the screen and rotated 90 degrees clockwise link to described issue https://imgur.com/gallery/Z4klFiA. I have tried reinstalling all of my VR apps, but the problem continues. Is this a hardware issue or software issue, and is there a fix? Thanks

    :)

    HP Reverb G2 shaking

    Hi AG_86_n,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you are currently having problems with picture shows on HP Reverb G2 shaking after upgrading to Windows 11. Sorry for the inconvenience.

These failures during use may be caused by the incompatibility of device drivers with Windows 11. However, after searching, it seems that there is no driver for Windows 11 to install on your device, it is recommended that you contact HP, but you also can try to download and install it again to see if the problem can be solved.

WMR HP Reverb G2 with Hybrid Graphics System

This is concerning WMR with the HP Reverb G2.

For anyone who is familiar with this situation:

I have tested the HMD with an MSI laptop equipped with i9/RTX 3070/32 gig using the Thunderbolt 4 port and a USB -C to DisplayPort adapter.

The right eye lens is displaying correctly however the left eye lens is scrambled with black and white vertical lines.

The Thunderbolt 4 port on this machine is *not* wired directly to the Nvidia GPU, but to the iGPU. MSI reports that the hybrid system will offload to the dGPU and receive complete frames at the Intel iGPU end. but it is still an Intel UHD GPU at the DisplayPort end.

Microsoft seems to imply that hybrid graphics as well as the Surface products are supported in the minimum required specs: Windows Mixed Reality PC compatibility guidelines - Enthusiast Guide | Microsoft Docs.

The system also has an HDMI 2.1 port directly wired directly to the RTX 3070. I've also attempted to make use of this connection with an active HDMI 2.0 -> DP adapter, however the WMR portal reports that the cable is not connected in this case.

Interesting, I tested an Oculus Rift S on the HDMI -> DP adapter and it worked as expected. Conversely, if attempting to use the Rift S with the Thunderbolt port, it will not turn on at all, whereas the HP reverb G2 displays one eye lens correctly, but the other is scrambled.

Appreciate anyone's advice who is familiar with WMR and if this is a driver/software issue or moreso a hardware issue that cannot be overcome with the hybrid graphics config or use of an HDM adapter.

    Thanks much,

    A

HP Reverb G2's Cameras Seem to Be Misoriented?

WMR HP Reverb G2 with Hybrid Graphics System

    Hi Fatima,

    Thank you for your response.

I will contact MSI in regard to whether all 4 PCIe lanes are available to the Thunderbolt 4 port. I have verified that the adapter cable being used is HBR3 capable.

At the same time, I am wondering if there is any way to get the device to operate with an HDMI to DP adapter. The HDMI port on the MSI computer is attached directly to the Nvidia GPU (RTX 3070) and this method was successful when using the Oculus Rift S (it turns on and operates properly).

However, when trying to use the HP Reverb G2 headset with the HDMI to DP adapter, Windows Mixed Reality reports that no display cable is connected. This seems unusual, since the Rift S works fine with the adapter and the adapter meets the HDMI 2.0 spec.

The only limitation of the HDMI 2.0 -> DP adapter is that it maxes out at 60hz at 2160p. However, my understanding is the Reverb G2 can support 60hz and that's not much of a limitation because not many VR titles would be able to run above 60 FPS at 2160p with a low power RTX piece.

    Appreciate your advice on this!

    Thanks,

    Adam
