    HP Software Component Issue


    On 8/31/2022 Windows Update installed HP Software Component 1.46.3053.0. A couple of days later my machine would not boot. CHKDSC was activated and it fixed the boot issue by removing this component update. Now Windows update is displaying this "Attention Needed" alert...When I click on download though nothing happens. I used the Update Utility to hide this update and that did not do anything either. I found this update in the Microsoft Update catalog but I cannot figure out how to download and install it.Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Yes I got it through Windows update. It said 'Hp Inc software component' with some numbers mentioned with it. I forgot to note that. But since my previous experiences of Hp updates via Hp support haven't been too good, I was worried.

    Though I have uninstalled all HP bloatware from my HP laptop as it was causing occasional problem, today through Microsoft update there were two HP inc software component updates in my laptop. Is this safe for my device? Is there any way of stopping HP updates coming via Microsoft? If so, how can I do that? Your guidelines would be appreciated.

    I understand your concern about accessing HP simple pass after upgrading to Windows 10. We will help you with this issue.

    • Do let us know the make and model of your computer?
    • Have you installed HP simple pass software on your computer?

    Try the below steps and check if it helps.

    Step 1: I suggest you to download the latest HP Simple Pass software from the manufacturer's website install it and check if it helps.

    Step 2: If you have already installed the software, I suggest you to re-install it and check if the issue persists.

    Follow the steps to Access Recovery Manager:

    • Press Start button from the keyboard, type Recover Manager.
    • Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The
      HP Recovery Manager opens.
    • Click Software program re-installation, Next , select
      HP SimplePass for the listing and then follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall application
