  1. Huge lag spikes and CPU/GPU hits when moving my mouse.

    Hey guys, I built my pc around 5 months ago and I've been struggling with this problem the entire time. I have a relatively good PC, my graphics card isn't the best but my processor is pretty good. I'll put in the necessary specs here:

    CPU: Intel i7-9700K @3.60 GHz

    GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super

    Ram: 16.0GB

    Windows 10 64-bit operating system x64-based processor

    I have an acer 27" curved monitor and am running 144Hz through the display port from my graphics card to my monitor. All of my accessories mouse, mousepad, headset, keyboard are either Razor or Corsair the mouse is Corsair and I have had this problem after many many attempts at troubleshooting online and through friends and family that have been working in the computer and technology industry for many years and all of my attempts have been fruitless. If anyone has any ideas or solutions that they have found to personally work it would be incredibly useful if you could share them as I know a great deal of people online have had this problem and it often goes unsolved. One of my biggest points of confusion is that my brother bought and build his own PC at the same time as me and has very similar specs, the only difference being that my processor is much faster than his and my mouse is a Corsair. Yet he suffers no issues due to lag spikes or any sort of performance drop when moving the mouse. This dilemma does improve slightly when exiting applications such as discord's party talk and Xbox game bar, as well as other applications of the like. Unfortunately, even when I close everything down fully and ensure there are no extra background processes the lag spikes will still be there, even if they aren't as bad. I don't understand how I can run games at 144FPS smoothly on max settings with many applications open without moving my mouse but still using the buttons on it, and then if I were to manually drop my frames down, lower the game quality to the bare minimum, and close all other processes and applications. I will almost immediately drop to 3-15FPS the instant I move my mouse. Again please send out anything you have, this doesnt make any sense and has to be some little setting in windows or potentially my system I have tried many different mouses and there's always lag, so I dont believe it to be the mouse itself but maybe the settings? that is causing this incredibly annoying unplayable experience that I have paid good, hard-earned money for.

    :)

  2. High cpu usage - CPU Spikes when moving mouse...

    Hi everyone - I've built my own custom pc, it has worked wonders for about 2 years now.

    I've rebuilt some of the pc because of upgrades, so my current specifications is as follows...

    I7-7700k (I JUST replaced this 2 hours ago more on this down below)

    Asus strix 1070 oc

    2x 2400MHz 8GB ram Corsair Vengeance

    Corsair AX 860 PSU

    Asus Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard.

    I have had some problems with my old PCU (I5-6600K) where it had high cpu usage, literally spiking from 10-15% idle to 60-70% just by hovering over icons on the desktop. Also running a steady 100% whenever
    I used any programs.

    Did a bunch of testing to figure out what was wrong with it, but gave up in the end after about 8-10 hours of work on it. Decided to buy a new CPU to see if that helped (i already wanted a new one so i thought
    why not...)

    The problem that is happening was not persistent after I put the new cpu in today. But after about 2 hours of run on the pc it began having troubles again. It first began while playing world of warcraft. The
    FPS was lowered even though both cpu and gpu was running on about 50-80% power. Whenever i would move the mouse my game would just lag out and if i kept moving it continuously it would completely stop showing frames and just freeze until i stopped moving it
    again.

    After that i noticed that whenever i moved my mouse on the icons on the desktop or move my mouse around on google chrome it begins spiking up again like last time. Also it uses a lot of CPU power for small
    jobs which it really shouldn't. Like having discord, 5 pages of chrome and steam open it can use around 30-40% on a i7-7700k??

    I know you like when people try to do it themselves first. And I am not a 'noob' at troubleshooting and googling my way through problems, but this one is a tough nut to crack.

    Problem: High cpu usage overall and high cpu spikes whenever i move the mouse. Literally can't play games because whenever i have to move the mouse it begins to do lagspikes.

    What i've tried so far:

    • Reinstalled windows 10 3 times and updated all drivers afterwards.
    • Wiped the entire SSD with the windows 10 and the games on twice.
    • Reapplied thermal paste and even replaced the cpu to a newer and stronger edition
    • uninstalled various drivers from the device manager and reinstalling them.
    • Fiddling around in safe mode without much knowledge of what to look for.
    • benchmarked the cpu to see if it was lacking behind (it wasn't)
    • Done a malware system scan through malware bytes
    • Done a ccleaner scan
    • done a antivirus scan through avira.
    I am out of ideas and i cant seem to find any help on google and i really hope any of you guys are able and willing to help me with this pesky issue... It's not fun to have a 'strong' computer if it can't even
    handle browsing or simple games...

  3. CPU spikes on foreground programs when moving mouse

    Hi,

    I have this problem that is bugging me for several months and has passed even to Windows 10. Starting a few months ago I noticed in Task Manager that when I move my mouse a little bit faster, the program that is currently on foreground starts spiking the
    CPU in the range of 10 to 30%. When it started, I was on Windows 8.1, but it continued to my Windows 10 upgrade, then on the fresh install. To summarize my problem:

    - every program that is currently on foreground spikes my cpu when moving the mouse;

    - not malware, as it survived on several installations of windows and an upgrade;

    - not mouse related, I've tried 2 other mice and they have the same problems;

    - the computer is quite powerful so the polling rate doesn't affect it that much; I'm keeping it at 500hz but the cpu spiking decreases by a bit when I go on 250;

    - when I did the Windows 10 clean install I've tested the issue after every program installation and it seemed to start after installing my AMD gpu driver and control center. On the other hand, Windows Update might have downloaded drivers in the background
    because when I uninstalled everything gpu related with DDU the problem was still present but the spikes decreases to about 5-10%.

    - without the AMD driver the foreground program shares the spike with Client Server Runtime Process and are lower (4-5% each).

    - the issue is still present in safe mode.

    - this is what
    Task Manager
    looks like when moving my mouse fast on desktop; also this is what
    Process Explorer reveals; and this time for
    Chrome.

    Relevant:

    Intel Core i5 4690

    Sapphire R9 285 OC

    ASRock H97 PRO4 on 1.70 BIOS

    Ask for more info if needed.

    Thank you

    Edit: grammar.

    Huge lag spikes and CPU/GPU hits when moving my mouse.

    Severe mouse lag in windows 10

    I started experiencing mouse lag after Windows 10 Fall Creator update. Tried all of the suggestions, nothing worked. I noticed that whenever the CPU spiked (90%) is when the lag was the worst.

    Yesterday, I noticed my laptop was not charging, although it was connected. After checking the connection and rebooting, it was charging again. However, when it was not charging but still plugged in (not on battery), the system changed the performance
    slider to maximum battery life, which kills performance. I moved the slider back to maximum performance. Huge difference. Laptop is super responsive again and the mouse lag has not returned.

    Not sure if this will be the case for many, figured I would post it anyway as a potential issue.
