Windows 10: Huge performance drop on laptop after update KB5003173

Hello,After an overnight update which was KB5003173, my laptop is dramatically slow. Navigating websites has slowed down dramatically, desktop apps are stuttering , laptop freezes sometimes even the startup is extremely slow. Games fall below 30 FPS. Performance drop in windows update.

•

Microsoft Update Catalog.

• Restart your device and check for updates.

Huge FPS drop after a driver (?) update

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you get FPS drop after a driver update on the computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• Does the issue occur with one particular game or all the games?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  

Since there was a Windows Update and as you have already tried rolling back and reinstalling the Graphics drivers, I would suggest you to try performing a System Restore on the computer and check if that helps.



To perform a system restore, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows logo key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’
   
2. In Run dialog box, type rstrui and hit
   Enter.
   
3. On the System Restore window click on
   Next
   
4. Now select a System Restore point that is nearest to the
   date/time of the day when the changes were made.
   
5. Click on Next and click on
   Finish.
   

Note: Restoring your PC won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.
