Windows 10: HUP and OneDrive allowance

Hi.


I recently signed up to the Home Use Program to get 365 and, mainly, to get the extra OneDrive storage that comes with 365. I've installed, restarted, yet still only have 5GB storage. Going online and checking my account details, I am met with a message stating 'You have more storage with Office 365'.

I'm hoping this isn't related to another OneDrive issue I have complaining of a file that starts with a space (a GUID filename), but a file I can't find (Hidden items is checked).

Hopefully, this is just a timing thing, as I only upgraded an hour ago, but would have expected the change to be immediate.

Any help gratefully received.

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

HUP and Windows 10

If your employer has a volume license for Office, and participates in the HUP, ask someone in your IT department to give you the company's code for the HUP. Then go online to the HUP website and do the deed.

HUP is the best deal, money-wise, but your copy of Office won't get updated with new features the way it would if you had an Office 365 subscription and you won't have access to the other Office 365 goodies.

Move fast: Microsoft announced that Office 2019 will be the last standalone version of Office.
