    I've recently obtained a third monitor for my Lenovo L340 gaming laptop. It only has 1 HDMI port so i bought an HDMI to USB adapter. it works well on its own but i found out it messes with the HDMI Port. Whenever the driver for the USB adapter is running, whenever I plug something into the HDMI port it constantly throws me back to lock in screen, so i basically can't use my pc. because i have to enter my code every 2 seconds. I have tried many fixes to bypass the lock in screen and messing around with the display settings but nothing has worked. The USB Adapter is from china and I have not found any sort of support to the item or driver. Any suggestions how I might overcome this problem?

    Do you have the latest drivers installed for the graphics card?

    If new drivers or reloading graphics card drivers doesn't fix it, the next thing I would suggest is to try the display port to HDMI adapter a couple of us have suggested already with a regular HDMI cable. If your cable is bad or you just need an adapter because for some reason a straight cable won't work - spending $20 on the adapter is a lot cheaper than new graphics card. I just installed my GTX 970 card a week ago and I had plenty of HDMI cables so that is why I went with the adapter instead of buying a new display port to hdmi cable.

    Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:

    Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :

    The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :

    Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:

    Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

    Do all USB-C ports support display port? I am thinking of picking up a cheap laptop but want to be able to connect two additional displays if needed. The laptop has an HDMI and a USB-C Gen 1. Ace Aspire R R5. thanks
