Hyper-V as a safe local user

    Hello everyone,

I bought W10 pro last week. I've set up some VM's for whom i had some older Windows keys for.

My question is, i want to use these VM's as a sort of user. Because my real Local user accounts have important software that i want to keep seperate (like one is a home studio, since it will almost never use the internet after set up the risk of it getting infected or something is low) . I used W10 home before with 2 users, one pulled in something that clogged up my system and i had to wipe everything.

    I'm trying to use VM's for guests/testing/ect.

Either force a local user account into a vm machine, or have acces to a VM on Hyper-v from the login screen of the host PC.

For know i've tried forcing a VM to open on login but i dont have the acces, even with the local account added in the Hyper-V Administration.

    But this has limitation:

I have to close the VM and the user can still do things on the local account before closing or logging out of it.

Anyone know if this is possible and how this can be done?

Also: The Hyper-V VM i've setup is extremely slow compared to other VM platforms (oracle Vbox/ VMware). I'm talking 2-5 seconds just to open a folder.

I get this warning about not being able to use the rescources of my CPU (not behind my home pc atm so can not check).

    I thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Steven

    :)

  2. Hyper V deativication

    Hi Geoffrey,

Hyper-V lets you run an operating system or computer system as a virtual machine on Windows. Before proceeding in disabling
Hyper-V, please create a backup of your files for security purposes.

To disable Hyper-V, please follow the steps below:

    • On the Cortana search box, type Turn Windows Features on or off and press
      Enter.
    • Look for the Hyper-V folder.
    • Uncheck the tick-box next to the main Hyper-V folder and click
      OK.
    • Restart your PC.

Should you have further questions, please let us know.

Unassign Hyper V VM with deleted User account

Hyper V is not assigned based on user accounts.

Hyper V is a server feature that allows you to create VMs but they are not assigned to users.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to?

And then share on a cloud drive and post link here for me to look at?

Also what are the steps you are doing to "assign" the VM to another User?

Hyper-V as a safe local user

Where is the Hyper V Manager, How to I start it ?

I am trying to setup an XP virtual Machine on Windows 10 Pro.

I followed the steps in Neil Peterson article of 5/9/2016.

System Requirements - done - ok

    Install Hyper-V - done - ok

Create a Virtual Switch - skip

    Create a Virtual Machine

Create a Virtual Machine with Hyper-V Manager

These steps walk through how to manually create a virtual machine and deploy an operating system to this virtual machine.

    • In Hyper-V Manager, click Action > New >
      Virtual Machine
      to bring up the New

Uhhhhhhhhh - this step obviously implies one knows

    1) Where the Hyper-V Manager is

    2) How to start the Hyper-V Manager

    Isn't that odd ?
