Windows 10: Hyper-V Services Installed Despite Feature Being Disabled

Hi All,

This is more of an exploratory question. I've just completed a clean fresh install of Windows 10. When checking over the services I noticed that the Hyper-V services were installed. They're all set to Manual trigger mode so they aren't running.

I also haven't enabled the Hyper-V feature.

I've not seen these services installed on a system outside of having the feature enabled. Why are they now installed and set to Manual trigger mode?

Doesn't Hyper-V work in Windows 10?

Make sure that you have installed the right Windows features for hyper-V.

The Hyper-V management tools, hypervisor and Hyper-V services.

 

Disabling Hyper V

When I try to run an Oracle VM it shows the error VT-x is disabled. I enabled the option in BIOS and the error still persists. I came across some posts where it showed that disabling/uninstalling the Hyper V feature helped resolve the issue.

The Hyper V feature does not show up under the Add/Remove windows features. I run the Home Version of Windows 10 and Hyper V is not a feature supposed to be available for this OS version. However the services were visible and I stopped them.

Need help to disable the Hyper V feature or any other workaround.

What have you got in Windows Features?





You can install management services (named Management Tools in Windows Features) without hypervisor certainly (so you can manage VMs on another PC) but I don't remember what is installed by default as I've got it all enabled.

Hyper-V is not enabled on the machine. Very odd.

 

I haven't checked if the management tools are installed, thats definitely worth checking.

 

Actually, I know everything in Windows Programs and Features for Hyper-V is disabled.
