Windows 10: Hyper-V VM XP Importing from Windows 7 to windows 10 Activation Issue

Imported Windows XP Mode VM from Windows 7 to
Windows 10. For windows Activation part I entered my XP windows
Product Key from my dead computer and tried to activate through
smartphone process. I got a message: " I am sorry , we cannot complete the
transaction as our records do not recognize this as a valid product."
Can you tell me what should I do? I spent so many hours on this. Thank You

Hyper-V and Windows XP

I have converted an old Windows XP system to a Virtual Machine so I can load it into Hyper-V in Windows 10. It had previously worked fine under Windows VM on my previous Windows 7 computer.

When I load the VM into Hyper-V, I get a message that I need to Activate the software. I tried to activate over the internet but got a message that it was unable to do that. I then tried to activate by telephone but the problem is that it does not give
me an Installation ID. It is blank where the Installation ID would normally show.

I rang the Microsoft Support Line but the representative told me that they do not give telephone support for Windows XP any longer. He told me to put my question here. I hope someone can assist as I rely on a couple of old applications on the Windows
XP VM.

Issues installing & running Windows XP SP3 in Hyper V

I'm playing around with Windows XP as a VM in Hyper V for reasons I won't go into. I have a bootable Windows XP SP3 CD I created some time ago. I've hit the following issues.

1. I can install XP from the CD but Hyper V seems to want access to the bootable CD whenever the VM is restarted. It would be faster to use an ISO file stored on a SSD. I've tried various ways to create a bootable ISO file from my CD but failed. What's the best way of creating an ISO file which will install XP and run under Hyper V?
2. I installed a virtual switch using a legacy network adapter but cannot connect the VM to the internet. Has anyone done this and what are the key steps? Is it safe to use XP to connect to internet from Hyper V?
3. I mounted the VM's .vhdx file to copy over some programs to test but this broke the VM's virtual drive configuration on restarting the VM. What's the best way to transfer files to the VM from elsewhere on my PC?

 

Windows XP Mode Activation after migrating to Hyper-V

I have legacy software which will only run on Windows XP and has been running in XP Mode on a Windows 7 PC. This PC needs to be replaced and in order to continue using the legacy software, I have migrated the XP Mode virtual machine to a Hyper-V server.
When I start this new VM in Hyper-V, it requests an Activation key for Windows XP. Product Activation fails and I have been referred to this site by a Microsoft Product Activation representative and can supply a Support Reference. Please supply me with
a solution so that I continue to use this software.
