Hyper-V on Windows 11: Mouse Vertically Inverted in Virtual Machines Running Older Versions of Windows

As the title suggests, the mouse movement (both using an external mouse and trackpad) is vertically inverted in machines running versions of windows older than Windows 10. Is there any fix for this? I've tried to uninstall and reinstall mouse drivers in the guest OS and restarting, but that did not fix this issue.

Mouse movement works correctly if the guest OS is Windows 10 or 11.

  3. Hyper-V on Windows 11: Mouse Vertically Inverted in Virtual Machines Running Older Versions of Windows

Hi, Aditya. I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem, and I hope I can assist you to find a satisfactory solution.

Here are a few suggestions you can try to resolve the issue:

Check integration services: Ensure that the Integration Services are installed and up to date on the guest operating system. Integration Services include drivers and services that enhance the performance and functionality of virtual machines. To update Integration Services, go to the Hyper-V Manager, select the virtual machine, and choose "Insert Integration Services Setup Disk" from the Action menu.

Adjust mouse settings in the guest OS: In the guest operating system, go to the Control Panel and open the Mouse settings. Look for any options related to mouse movement or mouse acceleration. Try adjusting these settings to see if it resolves the issue.

Disable mouse integration: In Hyper-V Manager, select the virtual machine and go to the Settings. Under the Integration Services section, uncheck the "Mouse" option. This will disable the integration of the mouse between the host and the guest OS. Restart the virtual machine and check if the mouse movement is now correct.

Use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP): Instead of using the Hyper-V console, try connecting to the virtual machine using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). RDP may provide a more seamless mouse experience in older guest operating systems.

  4. Hyper-V Windows 11: Mouse Vertically Inverted in Virtual XP Machine

Hyper-v vs virtual xp in windows 7 professional

I think I was steered to this forum incorrectly, as the only topic listed below is Upgrade Reservation Please give me the correct forun to send this to.

I am currently running Windows 7 Pro, which enables you to run Virtual xp through Virtual computer.

I understand that windows 8 replaced virtual machine with something called Hyper-V, which apparently is what Windows 10 will do as well.

However, when I searched for information on Hyper-V, it seems that this program/software is meant only for windows server machines.

Can Hyper-V be installed on my own machine so that I can download virtual xp and run it exactly the same way I am currently running it with Windows 7 Pro?

    Thanks,

    Ron
