Windows 10: Hyperx Microphone tap-to-mute malfunctioning since upgrade to Windows 24h2

I was forced by Windows update on 15/2/25 to upgrade my Windows 11 Home 23h2 desktop pc to 24h2. Since then my Hyperx duocast microphone has been unmuting itself and its tap-to-mute sensor on top of the product has been malfunctioning. I have got it to partly work however it still does unmute by itself and if I leave it a while, I am unable to unmute, I have to access the settings in order for it to come on. It worked fine before the upgrade and had no problems with it. I really hope I am not the only one with this problemI am using a windows generic driver for my microphone as it was a plug a

microphone mutes itself

When i go into properties the mike is muted. When I unmute it works for less than a minute then mutes again. The only suggestion I have found is set as default device which does not solve problem. I have also read it is a virus but I cannot solve with malware or virus scans. It first became a problem just a few weeks ago while skyping. Never had a problem with mike until then.

Troubleshooter finds the microphone muted and fixes, Within a minute the microphone mutes itself again.

I understand it can be frustrating when the Microphone is not working properly after upgrading to Windows 10. For further clarity on the issue and to guide you accordingly, respond to the questions listed below:

1. Are you facing the issue only with Discord application?
   
2. Have you tried using any other headset/microphone?
   

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.



Method 1:



Try disabling NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device and check if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type
   devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
   
3. Now expand the Sound, video and game controllers.
   
4. Right click on NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) and click on
   Disable.
   

Method 2;



Update the firmware for HyperX Cloud 2 gaming headset, you can download the firmware from the official

website of HyperX.
