    Hyphen key not working.


    My power has gone out 4 times today and now the hyphen key is not working and it is only the one key. I have gone through all the troubleshooting, I would greatly appreciate an actual answer to fix this problem. The key has worked fine on multiple keyboards and for years on the same computer.


    HOW do I fix this problem?

    Hyphen key not working

    Hello,

    The hyphen key (-) on my keyboard is not registering. However the underscore (_) sign works when holding shift. I have found that the hyphen does not work even on the virtual keyboard.

    This happened sporadically today, no windows updates or anything.

    Windows version:

    Windows 10 Home

    Version 1809

    OS build 17763.253

    • Have you installed the latest keyboard driver from the computer manufacturer’s website?


    I suggest you to use the on-screen keyboard and check if the same issue persists:


    • Press Windows + R keys together.

    • Type “osk” and hit enter.

    Hi Juan

    Since the hyphen is not working on both the physical and on-screen keyboard, this must be a software problem, please try this:

    Open the Settings App

    Go to Update & Security - Troubleshoot

    Run the Keyboard troubleshooter

    If that does not resolve this for you

    Open Device Manager

    Expand the Keyboards section

    Right click your keyboard and choose 'Uninstall'

    Then restart your PC
