I was trying to write a script using a .bat file, but I made a mistake and it caused some problems on my computer. My mom saw that and panicked, so she unplugged my computer from the power source. I realized what I did wrong and I deleted the file from my system. I hope nothing got damaged permanently.

I do understand your predicament, if you want to put your mom's system back to Windows 7, your best option is to clean install Windows 7

• Copy your mom's files (data) to an external drive
• Take note of her Windows 7 product key (it should be on a sticker somewhere on that system
• Click HERE to download Windows 7 installation meiaa from the Microsoft Website
• Create bootable Windows 7 installation Media using this tool -
  Windows USB/DVD Download Tool
• Boot from the Installation Media and clean install Windows 7
• Install any required drivers
• Restore your mom's date (files)

 

Help with a .bat file.

I have this .bat file that I've been messing around with:





I got it to open the Windows Update interface:





However, I need the .bat file to go a step further and auto click the Check for updates button circled in orange.

Can someone help me to finish editing the .bat file so that when I click the .bat file, the process of manually checking for Windows Updates becomes fully automated?

Smart as I am, I associated .bat files with another program, yeah... (You've really made this too easy!)

I've tried about everything to restore it already, I've run dozens of .reg files, edited adresses myself, deleted UserChoice etc.

Now, .bat files don't have anything associated to them, but I can't run them, because on doing so Windows ask me which program to use to open them. I'm really stuck and out of options.

Yet, I don't feel like completely resetting my system, I did that two weeks ago (before I messed up).

Any feedback is appreciated.
