  1. I accidentally deleted my Wireless PCI Card and I’m stuck in startup repairs now.

So I just moved into a new appartment and discovered that I couldnt see the wifi or even detect ethernet when I plugged in my PC. My phone, chromebook, and other devices could detect wifi just fine.

I thought it was odd that even my ethernet didnt detect anything, so I went to the device manager and saw that my Edimax 802.11g Wireless PCI cardhad a warning triangle with an exclamation mark near the icon. So i decided to try and update the driver and it said thay it was up to date, so I uninstalled it.

Windows then prompted me to restart my machine, and I did. And everytime I restart my machine it sends me to the startup repairs screen to attempt to repair my files.

The only advanced startup repair options it gives me is to just use the startup repair tool.

Finally, I’ve tried to use the system restore and the reset PC, and it comes with an error code of 0x80070422.

I’m able to get back to windows if I change my boot drive by pressing f8 while my pc is starting up, but do note I cant access wifi on the pc all in the process. Any help would be so helpfull thank you!!!

    :)

Asus AC68 PCI-E Wireless adapter not working after Windows update (Code 38)

As the title suggests, after the most recent Windows update (brought my version of Windows to 1803), my Asus AC68 PCI-E Wireless adapter ceased to function. According to Device Manager, it was a "code 38" error (Windows cannot load the device driver
for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.)

Multiple searches have suggested that this is because of an issue with AMD processors, but this is not my situation as I have a Intel based processor.

I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps (without success)

    • Uninstall and reinstall the driver
    • Use to "PCI lock" function in msconfig
    • Restore my computer to a previous state
    • Delete the Asus software
    • Change PCI port of my card

The only step I could take that did work was to restore a previous version of Windows (it brought me back to version 1709). So, for the moment my card works again, but my PC wants to update again, and I feel like this whole process will begin again if I
do so. For the record, I have already been in touch with Asus support, and they have been less than helpful (some of the steps taken above were at their suggestion). Thank you in advance for any advice.
