Windows 10: I activated windows when MS gave it for free. Can i do it again?

So.. back in 2015 or 2016 microsoft was giving away windows 10 for free, and i took it. This year, i bought a new pc so i'm wondering if i could use the old pc's activation code somehow and activate this one.

I think the windows i got back then was the home version, and in this one, the version is pro. When going to configurations, i cliked in "i updated the hardware recently" and it takes me to a page where it says "we can't activate your windows, the version is not compatible" however it does find the other pc which is linked to my microsoft account.

What i want to know is.. if i change it to the home version, will i be able to reactivate it?

EDIT: i just checked and the old one was indeed windows 10 home. it is still being used but if that's the case, i could deactivate it.

Windows activation, problem anticipation...

I bought a hard-disk to replace the faulty one in my Pentium 4 rig, which has OEM XP Home.

Now the last time I did a clean XP install I had to call MS and they gave me automated numbers to input to re-activate.

Just in case, that this time I have to speak to a human, will they be accepting to re-activate if I tell them (the truth) that I have changed the hard disk?

Or would you suggest something else? *Oh Well hwell:

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

Nothing you're showing or mentioning has anything to do with Activation. You said your Windows reports Activated. I told you how to check if there is a key embedded at factory from Lenovo which is how their laptops normally come. If there is an OEM-BIOS
key listed then there is no doubt you have normally activated factory preinstalled Windows. If there is no OEM-BIOS key listed then we'd need to sort out how it is activated to make sure there's no Volume License Key or another illegal key used, if this
was from a 3rd party seller for example.

No one said anything about having to buy another key. To reassure you I told you how to check if it's normally activated like a factory PC from Lenovo comes. Instead of following the steps I gave you brought up having to buy another key which no one has
suggested. Even if it turns out this was an Amazon 3rd party seller who sold with an illegal key, I was going to help you get it made right by Amazon who always will make it right if notified within a reasonable amount of time. If you want me to help you,
then follow the steps I gave.
