I allowed HP to make changes to my computer, but now I'm not sure it was legit. How can I correct this or disallow changes to be made? I do have HP printer.

Bluetooth headphones rapid allow/disallow cycling post-W11 install

    Good morning Vineet,

I have done all the steps in the Bluetooth troubleshooting link, and have made sure my BIOS is updated. Unfortunately, they have not fixed the problem. Hopefully you can help if I explain it more clearly using my steps after your T/S suggestions.

Since I updated my month old ASUS Tuf Gaming F15 laptop to Windows 11, I have been unable to use either my headphones or my external speaker via Bluetooth. So as to start fresh for this response, I removed both devices from the Bluetooth settings, ran all your Bluetooth troubleshooting steps, and checked the BIOS was up to date. Then I tried reconnecting my devices.

    1) Added Headphones back as a paired device. Device appeared as paired with '*Connected' showing on the device button, sound remained connected internal speakers and everything was stable long enough for me to open Settings>System>Sound & see the Headphones listed under both Output and Input sections.

    2) Opened the Advanced>All sound devices: but before I could do anything else, the listing for the Headphones under both Output & Input started disappearing/reappearing several times a second. Backed up a step to the System>Sound page, and the same disappearing/reappearing was happening there.

    3) Opened System>Bluetooth & Devices page, the headphones device button status was now cycling between '*Connected'/'*Connected voice'/'*Connected music' (I think, hard to read) many, many times per second. Hovering the mouse over the sound icon on the main bottom toolbar 'Internet/Sound/Power' button also showed it switching between the internal speakers & the headphones extremely quickly.

    4) Turned off the headphones, and it stopped. On System>Sound page, headphones were listed as options under both Output & Input, but when either of those options were selected to open the Properties, the General>Audio 'Allow apps and Windows to use this device for audio' could not be changed to allow the use of the device (confusingly, this entails changing the button from Allow to Disallow).

    5) Ran troubleshooter from the Sound page & selected the Headphones, follow the steps: it says that it is unable to set the Headphones to Default.

    6) Added external speaker back as a paired device. Device paired, but immediately started doing the '*Connected'/'*Connected voice' cycling many times a second, but no 'music' this time. Hovering over the main toolbar sound icon shows it still set to the internal speakers not the external.

    7) Opened the System>Sound settings. External speaker not listed under the Output options, but is appearing/disappearing under the Input options.

    8) Managed to open the Advanced>All sound devices, external speakers listed under the Output section, selected & was able to change it to allow using the General>Audio 'Allow apps and Windows to use this device for audio'. Everything now starts cycling again exactly as it did for the headphones in 2) & 3) above.

    9) The Settings page crashed. After turning off the Speaker I could open the main Settings page via the Windows button on the main toolbar, but it froze when I tried to open the Sound settings. Ran 'Troubleshoot Sound Problems' from the sound icon on the main toolbar which fixed opening the Sound Settings.

    10) Repeated trying to connect both devices, identical to before except connecting the headphones set the cycling between internal speaker/headphones for output immediately.
