How to identify unnecessary services and turn them off

Hi Thanks again to all of you for suggestions. Based on these I have adopted below approach, which has worked fine so far. See also

1. Make full image backup of PC using e.g. macrium reflect Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition – free for personal use
2. Bootracer: Download free bootracer and install Download BootRacer 8.85.2022.0427 - Free Utility for Monitoring Windows Boot Time and Detecting Slow Startup Programs!/
   1. Select startup control and optimize as needed
   2. Select Ultimate service optimizer and optimize the suggested services – requires pro version
   3. Pls. note that you should *not* select windows search service – e.g. outlook requires that
3. Autoruns: Download free autoruns from MS https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...loads/autoruns
   1. Select options -> hide MS entries. DO NOT touch MS services
   2. Select “logon” sheet and disable entries not required during logon
   3. Select “scheduled tasks” and disable entries not required
4. Uninstall programs you don’t need instead from settings -> apps and features

Help with the Windows Search Service failed

Hi,

Having some damaged system components is one of the possible causes why the services in the system are failing. For us to provide an accurate solution, we would need you to answer the following questions:

• Which build, version and edition of Windows is installed on your computer?
• What changes have you made to your computer before this issue occurred?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest refreshing the Windows Search service. To do so, follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key + R to pull-up the Run box.
• In the Run box, type services.msc and then hit the Enter key.
• In the Services window, look for Windows Search, right-click on it and then choose Stop.
• Restart your computer.
• Pull-up the Services window again.
• Look for Windows Search, right-click on it and then choose Start.
