I am finding the Windows 10 ‘Your Phone’ (WYP) app unstable

Windows 10 v20H2, Build 19042.868 Phone is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T running Android 10 with 4 GB RAM and 40 GB Available storage space. The phone CPU is an Octa-core Max 2.01 GHz which I believe is a reasonable specification. The Wi-Fi between phone and router is very good and stable since it is only 1.5 metres away and in line-of-sight of the router. The Wi-Fi Link speed is 433 Mbps according to WiFi HeatMap app, which is installed on the phone and there are zero Interfering networks due to using the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. The phone has the required Your Phone Companion (YPC) app installed and this shows Your Phone and PC are linked. The phone also shows Connected to your PC when I launch the WYP app on the PC. This WYP app also shows Showing up to 2000 photos . at the bottom of the right-hand user interface pane and I only have 54 pictures on the phone, which use 165 MB on the installed 31 GB SD card. The problem is that when I launch WYP app everything seems to display correctly on the PC monitor until I realise that not all photos are displayed and those that are displayed are not yet ready to copy onto the PC. If I try to drag n drop photos some will copy to the PC but some wont and this causes dots to stream to right on those photos. It seems that it is a time-out communications issue because if I leave the app running or click on Refresh then another photo will appear that wasnt there before. In the meantime, WYP app throws up Something went wrong messages, which I close but then it will reappear after a while. It has taken about 5 x 10-minute sessions of running WYP with a lot of Something went wrong messages before all 54 photos can now be seen on my PC monitor. I am assuming that the photos are being copied from the phone SD card (the photos are there, I can see them) since Synchronize with Xiaomi Cloud is disabled. Maybe it was the initial setting up and copying that took all the time and it may improve now that all the photos are showing. It may be that copying future photos will be quicker but I would be interested in what other people think of the WYP apps performance and stability. Q1 - Is it known if the WYP app is slow to communicate with the YPC app on the phone? Q2 - Is it a known bug with WYP? Q3 - Could it be my phone that is the bottleneck? Addendum Also noticed that photo sizes gets reduced by 35% - 50% when copied onto PC via WYP. Photo on SD card may be 2.5 MB size but it is only 1.4 MB after dropping it onto PC desktop. There are no settings in WYP or YPC to control this so is this normal? Thanks in advance.

    :)

I am finding the Windows 10 ‘Your Phone’ (WYP) app unstable

    Windows 10 v20H2, Build 19042.868

Phone is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T running Android 10 with 4 GB RAM and 40 GB ‘Available storage’ space. The phone CPU is an ‘Octa-core Max 2.01 GHz which I believe is a reasonable specification. Photos get reduced when copied to PC using Windows 'Your Phone' app

This post is linked to but it is separate from my previous post: - I am finding the Windows 10 ‘Your Phone’ (WYP) app unstable which I consider 'Solved' now.

Windows ‘Your Phone’ (WYP) app v1.21022.160.0 and Android ‘Your Phone Companion’ (YPC) app v1.21022.119.0

    PC OS = Windows 10 v20H2, Build 19042.868 and phone OS = Android 10

I have noticed that photo sizes which are above 1.6 MB on phone SD card get reduced when copied to PC. The reduction can be up to 65% so a 4.3 MB photo on phone becomes only 1.4 MB on PC. Photos below 1.6 MB get copied over at full size. The maximum photo size on PC seems limited to 1.6 MB if copied via WYP and YPC.

Question - There are no settings in WYP or YPC to control this so is this normal?
