Windows 10: I am getting a "Please insert a disk in Drive" pop up when I try opening a CD on my PC.

this started after I recently reinstalled the windows. the CD is moving inside the drive but won't open and and the message pops up and the CD drive ejects the CD out automatically.

You may follow the steps provided below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to insert the disk into the drive and go to disk Management, then there change the drive letter to the DVD/CD drive.

• 
  Press Windows key + X.
  
• 
  Select Disk Management.
  
• 
  Click on Change the driver latter and path.
  

If the issue persist, go to device Manager, then right click on the DVD/CD driver and click uninstall the driver and restart pc, then PC will install the driver automatically which will remove this error.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Select Device manager.
• click on DVD/CD Rom driver.
• Right click on the DVD/CD rom driver and select driver tab.
• Click on uninstall.

• When you say, “how do I open the cd/dvd disk drive on the back” are you not able to open the drive to enter a disk or trying to replace the drive?
  
• What is the exact model number of the HP Envy PC that you are using? To check type:
  msinfo32 in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

If the CD/DVD drive is not getting detected on the computer, I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the HP article

If you are unable to burn CD/DVD using the drive, I suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the HP article

Please insert a disk and cd drive not working

Thanks for the answers. Unfortunately I have already tried all these steps. My CD drive is showing and when I insert a disk it says insert disc. I have tried every other troubleshooting methods. Uninstalled drive, drivers, adaptors and made even registry
changes. nothing is working. When I checked the software part I am seeing that the CDFS is not running. It is not getting enabled. I have windows 10 version 1909 OS Build 18363.788 on a Sony Vio Laptop.

Yesterday I tried some more steps and I can feel the drive running and now when I am inserting a cd and press open it is just ejecting. If possible let me know how to solve the problem or else I will take it to manufacturer's store for repairs.
