Windows 10: I am getting error messages that have been resolved in 2015 but appear to have come back.

The latest error message I get every time I boot or log into my system is :Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{83A35100-6F57-53D8-9E78-F31C2AF58EBB}'- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">- <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-DeviceSetupManager" Guid="{fcbb06bb-6a2a-46e3-abaa-246cb4e508b2}" /> <EventID>131</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode>

Windows Update Error Message 0x80070543


Ya Ya Ya, there's over a hundred threads like this, ...

Anyway, started getting this error message a few days ago, and done a lot of searching on this error message, apparently it's not, uncommon.

In particular, the (currently) 4 updates that are being affected are:

• Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3173428) - Error 0x80070543
• Security Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3172729) - Error 0x80070543
• Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3174060) - Error 0x80070543
• Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3176493) - Error 0x80070543

The actions I've taken to date are:

1. Uninstalled firewall program (comodo)
2. Uninstalled anti-virus (Avast)
3. Reset the windows update catalog on local machine.

So the above errors are with the above done.

What other steps should I be taking to resolve the issue?

1. Attempted to use the troubleshooter, no dice.

 

Error Message Appearing at Random

I went to the referenced site. I don't see anything there about getting rid of this problem. It is baffling me. I have been paying attention to when it pops up for months. I don't notice any trigger or program I use that prompts the message.



System owns the directory and I'm not comfortable messing with permissions when System is the owner. Any suggestions about how to stop this annoying message?
