Windows 10: I am having problems connecting to certain websites including my one drive and Microsoft...

In just the last few days certain websites that I have used recently have not been assessable. This includes Microsoft help and support sites. I get a message “This site cannot be reached. http://help.Microsoft.com/ is unreachable” These same sites are accessible on my iPhone on the same WiFi network. I have tried to contact Microsoft by phone and get referred to the inaccessible website.

Can't access certain websites in Win10

I appreciate your efforts and time.

• As I understand you are unable to access certain websites, what websites are you not able to access?
• Have you logged in with a Microsoft account or a local account?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Network troubleshooter. Either search for it in the Search or run it by following the link below.

• Try a different network adapter/connection type if possible.
• Check for Windows Updates.
• Check for drivers for the network adapter.
• Open a CMD window as Administrator:
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • sfc /scannow
  • netsh winsock reset

Also try to restart the DNS service.

• Press Windows Logo Key+X. Click on Run.
• Type services.msc. Click on Ok.
• Then find DNS client. Right-click on it to Stop it and Restart it.

I was able to open the answers.microsoft.com site using the incognito window option. Why is this happening? This site can’t be reached
answers.microsoft.com unexpectedly closed the connection.

Try:

• Checking the connection
• Checking the proxy and the firewall
• Running Windows Network Diagnostics

ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

Check your Internet connection
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.

Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

If you use a proxy server…
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced
settings… > Change proxy settings… > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".
