Windows 10: I am having problems moving and manipulating songs in playlist with Groove Music

Music and Playlist problems with Groove Music

Is there a known issue with Groove Music in either the latest build or it's latest update. Over the years I noticed that XBox Music and Groove Music downloaded music in a strange way. If I wanted to make a playlist available offline, it wasn't simply downloading
music from OneDrive into the default music location. It hadn't even preserved the name of the file. Now in the last few days I just noticed a couple problems.

1. I'm starting to see duplicate files. I'm starting to see files I downloaded manually as well as those files in "OneDrive Cache." Before they all just showed up as the song tile. Now some show up as that funny file name.

2. All of the sudden a lot of my songs on playlist are showing as streaming only.

3. Some playlists let me re-order them and some don't.

4. Some songs are now listed under unknown artist instead of the artist for the song, I guess because not both artist and album artist are filled out in the file data.

5. A lot of my playlist are having a problem I once saw in the old XBox Music app. Adding a song to the playlist seems to make the playlist reorder itself.

This is a Lumia 640 on the latest mobile build and all apps completely up to date. I've had no real problems with Groove since I first upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile. I've recently done a master reset. This is a strange issue.

 

Adding iTunes playlist(s) to Groove Music

So I have done those steps...it's added all my music again, as before, but the playlists that have synced are the ones I created in Groove myself.

I added a few songs to the Flamenco playlist from the Groove library, which Groove synced from iTunes. All my music is there in the Groove music library except the iTunes playlists.

Your patience and determination astounds me.

 

Using Groove music in win 10, remove a song from playlist does not remove it

That will remove a song if you are in playlist mode, but it really does not work from a practical perspective.

I'm listening to a playlist. I want to remove a song.

The playlist shows, BUT the song that is being played does not show on the screen, where the list of songs is, the playlist is just shown, looks like from the beginning.

So, if you hit select now, there is no way to "find" the song..

If you hit "now playing", then indeed the song will show up in the list, and then you can hit the select, get the check boxes, BUT now the option to remove from the playlist is NOT shown, you can only DELETE the song.

The problem is that you cannot get the song that is playing to the select list without hitting the now playing button, and then you have apparently shifted from the playlist view to the now playing view, and you don't have the context of the playlist to
remove the song...

It's a terrible user interface and makes the playlist a joke.

I'll mess around with it some more, but this should be a simple, intuitive operation, not an exercise in computer science against a flawed user interface.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will see if there is some way to "trick" groove music.
