Windows 10: I am having problems with my windows search key and the settings app

so recently i installed my new SSD and with that it made my windows all buggy. so i did a reset from a media creation key on a flash drive, after my pc starting being laggy i noticed i had a bunch of updates i needed to complete i started the updates and then as it told me i restarted my pc. but after that my pc gave me a screen saying "Preparing Repair" and it sat like that for hours. so i booted windows off of the hard drive which was orginal not working and now i cant use my search bar or settings app, when i try to open the settings app through run i get the a pop up saying i need a app t

Windows 10 Settings App Search Not working

Thank you for providing some suggestions.

I performed step 1, and at the end of the test, it reported "No changes or updates are necessary."

I then performed step 2 and received the same message at the end of the test.

After running the two tests above, I opened up Settings and typed "privacy", which should show some help categories (It does on my other Windows 10 computers). However, on the one computer there is no help information. It states "No result for privacy".
It appears the Settings app help information list is empty or not found. Typing a single character, e.g., 'p', into the search box displays "No result for p".

Any further suggestions are welcome.

Is there a convenient way to have windows 10 try to repair itself without uninstalling my software and/or loosing all of my personal data.

Address Book for Windows 10 mail app

Windows 10 uses the People App. I have ,mine pinned to my taskbar.



Method 1:

Step 1:Check if People app tile is showing on the Start menu
by pressing Start key on keyboard

Step 2: If it is not displayed, then I suggest you to check using
Cortana by following the steps below:

• Press Start key on the keyboard and type People.
• Select the top most search result.

Step 3: You can also check in All settings from start menu by following the steps below:

• Press Start key on the keyboard and click on All settings option from the bottom left corner of the window.
• Check if People app is listed under alphabet P.

Method 2: If you do not find it in PC, you can download
People app from the Windows Store by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key on the keyboard and type Windows Store.
• Select the top most search result.
• Type People in the search and download the
  People app.

• Is this issue only specific with this search(sleep settings)?
• Does the same issue occurs if you search for some other settings?

Meanwhile, I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Run the search and indexing troubleshooter
and check.

• Press Windows logo key + X Key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Double Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option, on left hand side of the window.
• Click on Search and indexing and follow the on screen instructions.

You may also open the sleep settings by following the below steps.

• Click on Start.
• Select Settings.
• Click on System and select
  power & sleep.
