Windows 10: I am having trouble with drives after new windows install on new drive

I bought a nvme 2tb hard drive to not only add more space but to have a faster OS bc my original pc was prebuilt and the OS was on a hard drive. I went through the prosses, first installing the windows media helper thing onto a USB stick and then unplugging all my drives except for the nvme. I installed windows 11 and got the correct boot order after plugging in the old drives. I did put in my product key for the windows. I tried to delete the old windows just because it annoyed me having 2 OS on the pc but it didn't work so I kinda just gave up. Anyway I tried moving the apps from the old H

• Are you trying to reinstall Windows 8 or Windows 10?
• If you already upgraded to Windows 10, were you able to create a new copy of the recovery drive?

Need help installing a new hard drive

yes, so just unplug the old hard drive and install windows onto the new drive, it being the only drive plugged into the computer.
then after windows is installed and it works, plug the old one back in and it will be recognized. obviously turn the computer off while plugging in/out drives.

you only had to go to computer management if you needed to see the drive in windows, if you want to install a fresh install of windows to the drive and then use both afterward (recommended) then this will do it.

if , by chance, it boots the old windows instead of the new after doing that - then just go into the bios and arrange the drives in your boot priority, putting the new drive first.
