I have had Microsoft Outlook 2007 for many years and whilst my wife finds it OK on her Win7 laptop, I find it quite disappointing on my W10 PC.
Can I replace it with a mail program where it can be accessed from either computer, without duplications, and of course be able to work with W10.

    :)

ual boot system upgrade to windows 10

Thanks Jessen for the hint. I was expecting a yes or no answer, since I already have a dual boot system(xp+win7), and if I upgrade win10 from win7 boot, would win7 be replaced by win10 and becomes a (xp+win10) dual boot system?

But it looks more complicated than I thought, should I check current system has xp and win7 are installed in DIFFERENT partitions, otherwise xp would be gone after win7 is upgraded to win10 if xp and win7 are in SAME partition?

I am having the exact same problem with my ATT 8525 with WM6 and Outlook 2007. Is Microsoft looking into the problem?

    Hi and welcome:

You didn't specify what type of accounts you have (ISP, webmail, Exchange, etc.), whether they are set up as POP3 or IMAP, or how many accounts you have (that might influence your choice).
But there are many choices for email clients, both free and paid. Each has advantages and disadvantages.
AFAIK, they all work under both Win7 and Win10.

See these articles for a bit more information:
    Email Client
    and
    Comparison of email clients

I have used Thunderbird for many years with ISP, webmail and Exchange accounts. But it is just one option.
There are tutorials available on how to import your Outlook data into Thunderbird.
I expect other email clients have similar tutorials.

It sounds from your description as if IMAP is the way to go for you, so that you can access your messages on the servers.
Another alternative is to set up some form of "sync" -- this can be done from within certain email clients.

It can also be accomplished with a helpful 3rd-party app (Mailwasher Pro) -- it permits cross-platform syncing across multiple devices. The Free version works if you have only 1 email account. You'll need the paid version if you have more than 1.
The other advantages of Mailwasher Pro:
    • Spam filtering at the server, before the spam (or malicious emails reach your system)
    • Unified preview, quick reply, quick forward and other functions for incoming messages from ALL your mail accounts in a single, easily-customized "dashboard" -- very efficient!

Others will have additional suggestions, I'm sure.

    HTH,
    MM

    Hi there
Replacing Outlook is not always as simple as it looks - especially if you want EXCHANGE server support and multiple accounts.

However this one is worth a look (for more than 2 accounts though you have to pay --still cheaper than Outlook stand alone version though).

    em Client

    pro version supports exchange

IMAP and delayed send also supported

I might try this out on a VM later

    Cheers

  6. Thanks to MoxieMomma and jimbo45 for your contributions and your interest.

I will try and give more information. My existing mail program is using POP/SMTP on both Win10 and Win7 computers. Both have 2 email addresses. I'm afraid I do not know anything about M/S Exchange.

In addition to the above, approx 2 years ago, I bought a Nokia 625 mobile phone which has Win8.1. I did this thinking that staying with Windows units would be ideal. However this has it's problems in that this model phone cannot take Win10 at this point in time.

I am in my late 70's, almost 79, so computing is still new to me and being on a limited income, my preference would be for free software. I had considered upgrading form Outlook 2007 to 2016, but not sure whether this additional cost would help me, yet maybe it's worth the money to do this.

As I am not too active around the house, I find that the computer keeps my brain active.

The need to set up the 2 computers and the phone to "communicate" is a high priority as both my wife and myself are regulars at various medical centres.

Than you, once again, for your interest.

A program to consider: have a look at SeaMonkey browser, it includes an E-Mail Client feature and is free. I have it on Windows, macOS Sierra and Linux Mint [cross-platform is great].

    Thank you Berton,

Does Seamonkey provide for calendar and contacts?

    Regards, .

You should be using IMAP not POP3 access from your Mail Applications. That should stop the duplications. Each Mail Application (on the 2 PCs) then syncs content with the Mail server/provider.

At no cost you can use the built in Windows 10 Apps: Mail App, the People(Contacts) App, and Calendar App.
Although nominally separate data is linked, the Mail App has links to the People and Calendar Apps.
Those Apps are OK and work but they have a rather odd looking touch style layout.

That's what I use by default. I'm still looking for a decent alternative, like you, considering Outlook 2016 but it is expensive for what it is. I found Thunderbird to be unreliable.
