Windows 10: I am not able to listen from my earphones when i insert them in my laptop

So when I opened my laptop and inserted my earphones in the earphone jack it showed me a tab to choose mic in or line in but i pressed don't ask again and since then i am not able to hear anything that i put in the earphone jack but all the products ar working fine on other devices.

when I plug my earphones into my laptop to listen to anything I can,t hear anything .I have even used other earphones and the same results nothing .How do I get my earphones working again

Does windows 10 recognize when earphones are plugged in?

I would like to inform that Windows 10 does recognize and display a prompt when earphones are plugged in. I would like to ask if you are able to listen to sound from the earphone when plugged in.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar and press Enter.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Not able to hear anything over my earphones !

I suggest you to make sure that the headphone that you are using are set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Playback devices”.
  
• 
  Now, right click on empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Select “headphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the headphone is enabled & set as default.
  
• 
  Reconnect your headphones and check if issue is resolved.
  

I also suggest you check if the same issue occurs with a different earphones.



If the same issue occurs, then this might be an issue with the hardware (Earphone jack), if this is the issue then you will have to contact the computer manufacturer for further assistance with the same.
